Boys that Bite the perfect blend of comedy, suspense & romance

If you are looking for a book that will leave you with an entertaining plot line, the perfect mixture of emotions, and a satisfying ending, then Marianne Mancusi’s Boys that Bite will be to your well-rounded tastes.

So what happens when fashion forward teen Sunshine McDonald agrees to go to a new goth club with her oh-so-goth twin sister, Rayne? Disaster, that’s what!   In fact, Sunny is completely unaware that Rayne has applied to become a vampire and her application has been accepted. So the only reason she has begged Sunny to drive her to the club is to meet her bloodmate, Magnus. The problem? While Rayne is off looking for her dark prince, Magnus bites the wrong sister! So now Sunny is doomed to spend all of eternity as a vampire connected by blood to her sister’s chosen eternal mate–all due to a case of mistaken identity.  And while Magnus is everything she would be looking for in a guy–if he were mortal–Sunny has no intentions of becoming a blood-lusting creature of the night. Luckily, there is still time to correct the mistake.

In order to reverse her transition from drama queen to queen vampire, Sunny must enlist Magnus’ help before the seven day deadline. Unfortunately, the vampire leader who knows the secret is staked at the most inopportune time, leaving Sunny and Magnus to find the key to the reversal on their own. The good news is that they figure out how to stop Sunny from becoming undead. The bad news is that they must retrieve blood from the holy grail. Yes, the holy grail.  So Magnus and Sunny set off on an international journey to find the holy grail and reverse the transition before it is complete on the seventh day. But Sunny just might realize that all the things she never wanted may be just the things she needs.

When I first read the back of the book, I could see it’s potential, but I was afraid it would be cheezy and unbelievable. However, I was pleasantly surprised. Mancusi uses the perfect blend of humor, suspense, and romance to make the story unforgettable.  From fat, ugly vampire slayers wearing leather that should come with a weight limit to vampire leaders that resemble child actors– you will find yourself doubled over with laughter and having so much fun, you’ll be wishing for more after the last chapter comes to a close.

Luckily, there are two more books in the series to satiate your thirst for more of Sunny, Rayne, and Magnus.  So be sure to check out Stake That and Girls that Growl, both told from Rayne’s point of view. I know these books aren’t brand new, but I ran across them, and they were too fun not to review. You can expect reviews on the next two books in the series as soon as I read them!
