Hourglass, the third installment in Claudia Gray’s Evernight series, certainly didn’t disappoint–not until the last few chapters, anyway.
As most people know, I am a huge fan of this captivating series, chronicling the love story of almost-vampire Bianca and vampire hunter, Lucas. With that being said, I was looking forward to the latest book in this series with hopes for an adrenaline-rushing page-turner that could be read in a single sitting. Well, in that department, it certainly met my expectations because I didn’t put it down from start until finish.
Stargazer ended with Bianca joining ranks with Lucas and his ranks of vampire hunters, following a fiery attack upon Evernight Academy. Leaving her parents and friends behind, Bianca chooses a new life with Lucas with the hopes that they will be with his vampire-hunting family and friends to make a life of their own. Happily, in Hourglass, that happens.
When Bianca finds herself exposed as an almost-vampire, she and Lucas must flee in order to escape eminent torture and probably death at the hands of Black Cross hunters. However, more danger awaits as Bianca and Lucas must devise a plan to survive on their own–avoiding rogue vampire, Charity, at the same time. Bianca, who has chosen a human life, rather than becoming a vampire, believes becoming a vampire is the worst fate she can possibly have. However, as extreme plot twists would have it, she’s dead wrong. …» more
Stargazer, the sequel to Evernight, by Claudia Gray, left me in a lurch with its teaser of an ending! Just when my desire to know what becomes of Bianca and Lucas is at its most intense, the book comes to a close, leaving me ponder the possibilities until the next book debuts! In Stargazer, Bianca and Lucas must meet secretly if they hope to continue their impossible relationship, and with the help of the gentlemanly Balthazaar, the almost-vampire and vampire hunter can continue their dangerous affair. However, there are several problems this time around, including, but not limited to: a.) there are wraiths after Bianca b.) Bianca wants to turn Lucas into a vampire so that they can spend eternity together, and c.) Lucas would rather …» more
Not that my endorsement counts for anything (being that I am nobody from nowhere as of now), but I must officially say that Evernight by Claudia Gray is a great choice for reading material. Of course, I recommended this book a few days ago, so you are probably asking yourself why this book is suddenly cooler now than it was. The answer is simple. I emailed Claudia Gray, and she responded. In today’s impersonal society, the fact that a published author took the time to shoot me an email and encourage me to follow my dreams is nothing short of monumental. Plus, it wasn’t one of those impersonal, generic emails, either. I asked her how she found an agent, and she answered the question and encouraged me to give it a shot. It may seem like a silly thing to get excited about, but I opened her email during a frustrated moment when I really needed the moral support. So if you get a chance (and you are a teen or adult who likes vampire stories), I highly recommend Evernight, as well as the second installment in the saga, Stargazer, which is scheduled to come out in March. And if Claudia Gray ever happens to stumble across my site, thanks a million for your nice email!
