City of Glass was all I have come to expect from young adult urban fantasy author Cassandra Clare and more. After having several painful months to wait between City of Ashes and City of Glass, I had plenty of time to ponder the mystery behind the experiments performed by Valentine on Clary and Jace, along with the origin of their birth. I am proud to say that my original hunch about Jace’s parentage was right on. However, I did not have the experiments figured out until about half way through City of Glass, which would most certainly get six stars on a five star scale. City of Ashes leaves off with Clary’s mother still in a coma but with a promise of breaking the spell that is keeping her unconscious. In City of Glass, Clary sets forth on a voyage to Idris (against Jace’s wishes, might I add) in order to find a wizard who can awaken her mother. However, when she arrives in Idris, a quarrel with Jace will lead her into the company of the mysterious, yet friendly and charming Sebastian. However, when all hell breaks loose (literally) in Idris, Clary and Jace will finally discover the truth behind the tie that has bound them together since their first meeting, along with the realization that love has the power to strengthen, rather than weaken. To put it simply, City of Glass is an amazing conclusion to an amazing series. In truth, I am satisfied with the ending but a little bummed that the series is over. I think I could honestly read about these characters for several more books without tiring of them. In short, I am one hundred percent in love with this series and one hundred percent a fan of Cassandra Clare, whose masterful writing skills have kept me on the edge of my seat through each adrenaline-pumping page-turn of this timeless series.
