After purchasing Hunted by P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast yesterday at around 4 p.m., I am already finished and left to wonder what will become of Zoey Redbird, her friends, and her trail of admirers. While I am left in suspense until the next novel in the series, I have mixed feelings on this most recent installment in A House of Night. It may not make much sense, but I love Zoey’s character, defined as much by her indecisiveness and poor choices as by her innate goodness and obvious favor from her goddess. However, those poor choices and her blatant inability to decide what she wants is what left me halfway wishing a raven mocker would take her out once and for all toward the beginning of the novel. I love the action in this novel, and I think the villains are great, but the soap opera love triangle once again rears its ugly, overly-dramatic head just when readers thought Zoey finally has it all figured out. Obviously, Erik Night will never be mentally able to let go of the fact that Zoey betrayed him with the vampyre poet laureate pedophile. Obviously, the imprint situation with Heath (which was necessary this time) will only end badly. So the renewal of these two relationships simply served to deeply irritate me and wish someone would smack the tar out of Zoey, along with the testosterone-overloaded and highly possessive Erik and Heath. They are fighting over Zoey when every House of Night-addicted fan knows neither of them is likely to win her in the end. Of course, that leaves James Stark, who ultimately chooses good in order to be worthy of Zoey’s love. Stark was a favorite of mine until the whole blood-sucking rape and pillage persona he has adopted. I know, I know. He couldn’t control his actions due to the whole red fledgling thing and now he is nice and reformed like Stevie-Rae. But now, I find myself just as annoyed with Stark as with Erik and Heath. I am hoping now that she has termporarily driven away Neferet and Kalona, she will clear up her impetuous behavior toward these three smitten guys and choose one (Stark, more than likely, since he seems to be her soul mate and all) and move on to defeat what evils lie ahead in the next book in the series, Tempted, which P.C. and Kristen are currently writing. This series is not the greatest or most well-written in the world, and some of the characters (especially the Twins) will get on your last nerve, but sadly, the books are highly addictive, and I (again, sadly) have fallen victim and must know what will happen next with Zoey, her enemies, her friends, and her endless string of boys.

dude!! i know!! zoey’s endless string of boys are sooo enoying!! obviously erik is being a jerk and thinks he owns zoey, and i kinda think he wants to get with her because of the Lauren situation. My favorite character is Stark and she should totally end up with Stark. I totally agree with the rapeing the girls was bad, but yeah he was kinda evil then. And i love Stark and everything, but didn’t he shoot Zoey with an arrow? Why didn’t Zoey aim the arrow with her five elements at Neferet instead back at Stark? Then she would just have to worry about Kalona running loose? again, I LOVE the HOUSE OF NIGHT SERIES, and she always leaves me open minded and craving more, and more information!!

I LOVE THE HOUSE OF NIGHT SERIES. BUT i think i speak for everynone when i say this love triangle stupidity has got to stop. just give her one guy and let that be the end of it. i liked erik at the beggining(i still like him), but now hes all jerky, possesive, and jealousy proned so that kills his chances of being zoeys lover. heath is just a love sick, obbsesive boy who wont leave zoey alone and its and its killing zoey and eriks relationship. sometimes i wish stark nerver came if erik was planning to get back with zoey, but i like stark hes cool and sarcastic. so all i say is stark or erik.I LOVE THIS SERIES LOTTTTTTTTTTTTS.
Yes, House of Night fans, the love triangle is getting quite daunting. It seems the consensus among most readers is leaning toward either Erik or Stark. I quite agree with those of you who have indicated a distaste for Heath. I mean, Zoey is a High Priestess. In my opinion, she can’t just go for the slightly dorky high school quarterback. Erik, in my opinion, was caught up in the lust aspect from the beginning (Hello! Remember Aphrodite?). And while I completely disapprove of Stark’s past actions, at least he seems to have changed, and let’s face it, girls. We all like a guy who can be transformed by the love of a good woman (though, realistically, it rarely happens). So I think I am pretty sure I am willing to forgive Stark for his past actions. Honestly, I think he and Zoey are well-suited for one another for the simple fact that I think Stark is too smart to let her string him along. I think in the next book, there will definitely be an ultimatum with the love triangle. And I must admit that I will be happy to see it!
Omg! seriously this whole triangle is making my head spin.Gahh!.. for some reason i really like Loren but come on they had sex! shes still with Erik? and Heath, he really needs to just leave, honestly hes a retard. I really hope Z ends up with Stark just god dont let erik come back into to this and everything be all jacked up, again!
Ironically, as much as most of we ladies think we would love to have three guys panting after us, as illustrated by Zoey, it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. As of the end of Untamed, it seemed that Zoey’s life was actually starting to make some sense (in the love triangle department, anyway). Heath was angry and had broken things off for good, Erik was still stark raving mad about the hook up with Loren (who was a complete pedophile jerk), and Stark had turned evil and needed saving. Of course, the logical assumption at the end of Untamed would be that Zoey would seek out Stark in Hunted and save him. And she did, albeit in a very sweet, yet unfaithful-to-boyfriend Erik sort of way. So in Hunted, Zoey gets back with Erik, Heath comes back and they must dramatically renew their imprint, and now she’s got Stark nipping at her heels too. So now Zoey finds herself not in a love triangle, but rather, in a love square. I am just hoping that she will choose one in the next book and the Casts don’t have her keep all of them: human consort (Heath), mate (Erik), and body guard (Stark). First of all, it would just be selfish for Zoey to keep all those hot guys to herself. Second, that’s just gross (can we say higher risk for disease? Eww!). And finally, Stark is just cool, while Heath is an idiot and Erik is an over-sexed possessive jerk. So yes, House of Night Fans, I agree that Zoey should pick one (definitely Stark) and stick with him.
I am totally sick with the whole love-triangle issue, too. But unlike most of the other comments, I really want Z to stay with Erik. He’s cool and awesome and really a nice guy, and he obviously totally loves Zoey. The only reason he got so obsessive and protective was because of Heath, who I think deserves to die, and shouldn’t even be a part of the triangle. I’m not so sure about Stark. I mean, he’s nice and stuff, but Zoey barely knows the guy. Plus, he could be a little unstable, being a red vampyre and all. Maybe Stark could end up with Stevie Rae? I mean, they are the first two red vampyres. But, I still want Zoey and Stark to stay really close friends. I want the Casts to just pick one guy (preferably Erik) and get the tedious thing over with! I hope she doesn’t end up with all three, though. (ugh)
ok so i totally agree with Maria…i really really want Zoey to end up with Eric…You can totally tell he loves her a lot. I understand his posisiveness. he caught his girlfriend having sex with another man..i do believe i would be a little guarded too. AND yes this love triangle needs to end. its getting to be too much for way too long. I VOTE FOR ERIC!!
I can’t decide on Erik or Stark, they’re both great guys! But I agree that Heath HAS to go! Can’t Z just imprint with the guy she chooses and break Heath’s heart so that he goes away once and for all? But she could make him forget her because she has the ability to seeing as she controls all the elements…either that or he dies.
Okay so i love Eric and Zoey needs to be with him its only natrual and plus hes hot and cool all at the same time. Im not even going to start with heath, hell why didn’t she suck him dry the frist time.lol. Dont get me wrong i love stark and all but Zoey needs to get real and let stevie Ray have him. So Zoey should defunetly go for Eric. they are perfect for each other. DUH!!! ERIC!
On the subject of the love square between Z, Erik, Heath and Stark, I have pretty strong opinions just like the rest I have read here. I do not trust Erik. He’s an actor. He’s always playing a role and I can’t tell which is the real him. The part that pretends that he has forgiven her? or the Part that grows colder and colder to her with each passing minute. His passion I find seems to be brought on by anger. As though he needs to prove to himself that he can have her and then leave her. She I think also suspects this, for any time he gets too sexual, she hesitates as though she thinks that this is all that he has after. I find Heath to be a bumbling idiot and constantly want to slap him up side the head. But then I also want to slap her up side the head for constantly leading him on. Her lack of will power staggers me and makes me wonder how someone so weak can be strong enough to be a priestess. And finally, Stark. I have and will always totally love Stark. No matter what he does. The bad part of him is what makes him so perfect for Z. He understands her flaws, get’s her imperfections. He’s strong enough to be able to stand by her side and not be overpowered by her, but also weak enough to understand her weaknesses. For me it is Stark all the way!!! Man, Sept is way too far away….lol…
I for one am not sure who she should be with. I mean Health has to go. For her benefit and his. And Erik is too posisive. but i under stand it and so do you. I mean come on he walked in on her with another guy. I like him but him and Zoey are not good for each other. And Stark seems to be a good match for her But they are in some ways too different.he is a red vamp. and can have anger problems. Also they kinda just met. She shouldn’t be so serous with him yet. I don’t think she should be with any of them. There is just something about each of the guys that makes Zoey wrong for each of them. But if i had to choose i would choose Stark. he gets her and doesn’t make her feel like crap and make her feel like what there doing is wrong. He trys to protect her doesn’t end up making things worst like Health.
i truly believe she should take a break with guys for a while until she sorts through all her problems before she gets any more involved with them then she already is. But she has to breakup once and for all with Health. They are completely wrong for each other. They were okay together when she was human but she is a different person now. And Erik is a good match but he will never fully forgive Zoey for cheating on him. And he absolutely won’t wen she’s still with Health and is basically dating Stark. He feels cheated and can/won’t forgive Zoey of that no matter what she does. So, her and Erick just won’t work. her and stark end up the only match that makes any sense for her. But they barely know each other and he is a red vampire and he did rape and suck peoples blood before she got to him. I’m not sure I can forgive him of that even if Zoey is. However, Stark does seem to be the the only guy who will accept her, love her, and protect her in a way the others can/haven’t/won’t do. They way they are together totally out way the cons than they do the pros. So all i can hope for is that Zoey makes the right choice and chooses the guy worthy of her and will love her the way she should be any hasn’t been.

I want Zoey and Eric to end up together. What really grinds my gear is how many boyfriends she got. Of course Eric is posseive of her he caught her cheating on him. I even feel sorry for Heath. I personally think that Eric and Heath should dump her and find someone who really deserves them.
O and why do you like Erik he is a snob big time and im GLAD he is gone and Im sad Heath is dead i just wish he got a nother girl so Zoey soul didnt break and plus he could have been her consort. I dont know about the whole love square thing. I think she should pick one, but i dont know which one to pick. I mean HEath and her have loved eachother forever. And Erik and her had a thing. But he is not what he appears to be. Stark just showed up and now shes all lobey dobey. No. She needs to pick one, let the others hurt and grieve, and be done with it. Thats it
Iagree with cami the stupid love triangle has to stop heath is pathetic, but were we disagree i have read part of temepted (no spoilers) but i think z only likes stark cause she feels bad for him.so as i’ve practecly already told you i think she and erik can work it out if she broke the imprint with heath and left stark alone so (here we go again) TEAM ERIK!!!!!!!!!!!
