Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

Forums:

I know I'm a little late, since the novel was actually published in 2009, but I just read Becca Fitzpatrick's Hush, Hush. WOW! How on earth did I miss this one? I have walked past this book so many times while book hunting at my favorite Books A Million store in Johnson City. I've even picked it up and said, "Wow. This sounds like something I'd love to read." Well, between school, work, and my own writing, I haven't made much time for leisure reading lately. However, I must say it has been a long time since I've actually been physically unable to muster up the will to put a book down and get some shuteye, but Hush, Hush certainly made for a night with little sleep. From the first chapter, I was hooked, wondering about the mysterious Patch and his intentions with Nora. By the time I looked up, I was on page 143, and it was almost midnight! I plan to make a study of this book in the near future. In every chapter, Fitzpatrick creates enough tension and conflict between the characters to make my heart race. It was literally agonizing to put the book down so that I could get a few hours of sleep and function at work the next day.

Have any of you out there read Hush, Hush? Do you agree with me, or do you have other thoughts and observations? I want to know!

I was on the JCPL waiting list for this book for over a month and finally got my hands on it last week. I thoroughly enjoyed it! I'm a huge Twilight by Meyer and Fallen by Kate series fan and this felt like a mash-up between those two. I, too, couldn't put it down. A great side-effect from these angel/niphilim stories is that it's making me want to delve into my Bible more and flush out how much of the fiction is based in fact. I'm on the waiting list for Crescendo now, and I'm looking forward to seeing where she takes this story.

While I absolutely could not put Hush, Hush down, I wasn't nearly as impressed with Crescendo. It was more the plot line than the writing--just not what I love in a sequel.
