Breaking Dawn Part I

The film adaptation of Breaking Dawn (Part I) is set to debut in November of this year. With all the excitement generated from the final Harry Potter movie, along with announcements that City of Bones and Hunger Games will become movies, I had almost forgotten about Stephenie Meyer's final installment in her Twilight Saga. I have no doubt that I will wind up in a seat in a packed theater at Cinemark's Tinseltown in Bristol around that time, though I have mixed feelings about both the book and the movie. While I have heard many people say Breaking Dawn was their least favorite book in the saga, I have to say that, other than a few graphic details and the ridiculous "bed breaking" incident, I did enjoy the book. However, I remain skeptical about the need for two films in order to accurately portray the plot. I believe Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows warranted two films because of all the necessary details and events J.K. Rowling included in the story to bring the series to a satisfying close. However, as is typical with Meyer's writing, Breaking Dawn included massive amounts of detail that isn't always essential to the plot. I tend to believe the major plot points could be adequately revealed in a single movie. Of course, I'm sure box office sales had more to do with this decision than actual necessity. I am undecided on how this movie will go at this point in time. I was disappointed with Twilight, I liked New Moon, and I wasn't all that impressed with Eclipse; thus, I am hoping Breaking Dawn will offer an entertaining way to spend a couple of hours. As it stands now,(aside from my disappointment that they included the ridiculous bed-breaking scene), the trailer looks pretty promising.
