The Dead Girls’ Dance, the second installment in Rachel Caine’s Morganville Vampires series, is packed with even more action that the first, Glass Houses. In the second novel in this highly-addictive series, Claire discovers that her troubles in Morganville are only beginning.
After trading the founder’s book for head-vamp Amelie’s protection of her friends, Claire believes her problems are solved–that is, until she faces her biggest challenge yet–Shane’s father, Frank Collins. Jaded and completely twisted by the loss of his wife and daughter, Frank Collins returns to Morganville to wipe out the vampires–and he expects his son to help. However, when punk-vampire Brandon winds up murdered, the vampires use Shane as bait in order to catch his father.
With Shane’s life on the line, Claire must call on her smarts, her negotiating skills, and her courage in order to keep him safe. But with Frank’s unpredictability, playing the Morganville game is more complicated than Claire could ever have imagined.
Caine outdid herself on The Dead Girls’ Dance, introducing new compelling characters that readers will love to hate and hate to love. In addition, the romance between Shane and Claire further develops, revealing two teens who complement each other so convincingly, they could only be meant for each other. I highly recommend The Dead Girls’ Dance, along with Glass Houses, the first book in the series. And be sure to read the next installment in the Morganville Vampires, Midnight Alley.
